I was craving Italian food and coming here hit the spot on a rainy evening when the wait for Uva and Lusardi's was too long. That said, those two places provide a more than healthy dose of competition for this restaurant and you wonder why they'd even come to this very block.
Every dish was solid. We had three total pasta dishes and the ravioli with spinach and sage butter was the standout. But, I also can't say that the memory of any of them would make this is a destination for me to seek out again.
Service was friendly and the owner even sent a complimentary dessert our way since we had helped to pick up what had been up to that point a pretty slow evening. Sitting there, I loved some of the paintings up on the wall, the Latin pop classic songs soundtrack, and our bottle of cab that went along with dinner.
And yet, I didn't leave with a "must return" feeling, which the standard Upper East Side prices further complicated. I'm generous with my rating, though, because this seems like can be a decent, reliable, no-frills spot if you live in the area or have a large dining party and just want to get in your craving for Italian. You won't go wrong here and likely enjoy a nice time while you're at it! -

The food here is good. The service is decent. The pizzas were the perfect food to eat after we drank all the pumpkin beer at City Swiggers. They have indoor/outdoor seating. The dessert pizzas were far too sweet and I would never ever order those again but the rest of our group seemed to enjoy them. They were able to accommodate our somewhat large group on a Saturday evening. The food came out fast. The cappuccino was served room temp instead of hot. But all those things are either good or can easily be dismissed.
The reason for three stars? The 3% fee for credit card transactions! We live in a plastic (Barbie) world. Everybody carries plastic. Tons of people prefer to pay with plastic. If I carry more than $40 on me in one night it's a problem. So when they gave us the check and it included a note inside saying there's a 3% fee I automatically knew that as good as their pizza (and pasta! the pesto has pignolis!) is I cannot give this place more than 3 stars. There is absolutely no reason in this day and age to penalize somebody for using their credit card. I know cards charge fees but you don't see other places complaining.
Come for the pesto and pizza - just remember to bring cash. -

I'm not sure why this place isn't getting more traffic! It was fantastic!
We were on our way to Uva next door when a very persistent server made us an offer we couldn't refuse...free wine if we stopped in for an appetizer. Sold!! We went went the burrata with prosciutto. YUM! The burrata was all you want in a ball of mozzarella...chilled, firm on the outside and gooey on the inside. Lots of ham, a little olive oil, on a bed of arugula. Delicious!!
We decided to stay for dinner. I went with the ravioli with a butter sage sauce. The pasta we cooked perfectly al dente. It was clearly made fresh. The butter sage was flavorful. My only complaint is that there wasn't more of it!
My friend had the truffle pizza and was a big fan. I can't stand truffle so I can't add anything. Lo siento.
The staff were personable, stopping by our table regularly just to chat. I'm not sure what to think of Uva since we never made it there, but definitely check out these new kids on the block!!! -

Another new Italian and Pizza joint that recently opened on the UES.
Not a bad new spot for Italian eats and pizza. A bit pricey for what it is but service was very good, and the food was tasty.
We tried a standard margherita pizza, arugula salad, and pesto pasta.
I love eating freaking cheese and the salad had a generous amount of shaved parmigiana on top. Plus, the light lemon dressing was perfect on a warm spring evening. Pizza had a nice thin crust but each slice easily held up and did not become a sloppy mess. The pasta was just the right amount of al-dente and smothered in pesto sauce. So good, and my breath was stinky the rest of the night!
Finished off with a cappuccino which had some seriously good foam.
Very nice inside dining room along with outside seating too. Ownership seems to be very Italian as staff had a heavy accent and spoke the language. Amore !!!
It's a family friendly place, so it's good for all. Can become a bit loud inside but it's because patrons are having a good time. I like it. I also love pizza. And cheese! -

This spot is a great addition to the neighborhood.
The interior decor looks a lot like Al Forna, not much redecorating. The outside area is nice, typical of most restaurants with seating on second avenue.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. We had:
- Mediterranean Salad - Very tasty
- Primavera Salad - Very good
- Truffle Pizza - Very good, make sure you love mushrooms.
- Genovese Pizza - Tasty
- Nutella Pizza - Delicious
We haven't tried the non-pizza entrees yet but hope to try them soon.
FYI - This restaurant is BYOB.
